US-based TMC Travel and Transport Inc has purchased London-based Statesman Travel Group for an undisclosed price.
Travel and Transport, based in Omaha, Nebraska, has acquired a 100 per cent shareholding in Statesman Travel, which is ranked 16th in BBT’s list of the 50 Leading TMCs in the UK with total sales of £147 million.
With this cash purchase, Travel and Transport, which bills itself as “one of the largest travel management companies in the US”, now employs a total of 1,600 staff and has total global sales of more than $3.5 billion per year.

Statesman, which is based in the City of London, employs around 150 staff and brought in £7.7 million in new business last year. The TMC focuses on sectors such as finance, legal, media, energy, professional services and advertising.

Travel and Transport is 100% owned by its employees. It is also one of two main shareholders of global TMC network Radius Travel with its chief operating officer Tim Fleming currently acting as Radius’ chairman.
