Carine Morin is a panellist on Going through the numbers – How to use data analytics to get the most out of your business intelligence at Business Travel Show Europe.
What’s the biggest challenge facing you as a buyer right now and why?
Sustainability is one of the obvious challenges facing business travel, a topic that requires specific knowledge. Buyers may be limited with their suppliers’ availability in some areas and the need to travel. Another challenge I can think of in the short to medium term is this situation of the unknown we are in. We don’t know when we can restart international travel, whether travellers will be willing to travel as their opinion fluctuates with the fluidity of the situation, and to what level we will be travelling.
Do you expect your business travel activity to resume to pre-pandemic levels and, if so, when?
I don’t know. The 'when' will depend on when governments are opening their borders. And to what level remains unsure. We are expecting less travel, but we are a growing company.
What support would you like to see from governments to get us all back on the road?
In an ideal world, governments would align on border re-opening and reduce complexity on requirements to enter countries. Politics takes over from logic.
What are you doing to make your travel programme more sustainable and why is this important?
Education on sustainability is key and we need to give visibility to travellers on the impact of their travel.
Why are you looking forward to attending Business Travel Show Europe and meeting face-to-face once more?
I am looking forward to meeting my friends and colleagues and taking some time to think about our next move as an industry.
Tell us in 20 words or fewer why buyers should attend your session at the show?
Data is key to making informed decisions and gaining support from leadership. As we are trying to guess what the future of business travel looks like, data is our best ally to look at trends.
