Andrew Smith has been appointed managing director of Sixt UK
Car rental company Sixt has named Andrew Smith as its new UK managing director. Smith moves to Sixt from Avis Group and takes over from Tim Vetters who remains with the company.
Smith has spent ten years in various roles at Avis Group, most recently leading the Avis Budget businesses in Denmark and Sweden.
“I am delighted to be joining the team at Sixt and am looking forward to helping our UK business continue to develop and grow,” said Smith. “Sixt is well-regarded in the industry and it’s my honour to be leading such a proud, passionate and knowledgeable team in the UK.”
Vetters added: “Having been part of the Sixt UK team for seven years, I can truly say that we have come a long way. As a business we are ready to scale up and I have no doubt Andrew will lead the team towards future success.”
Sixt added more than 1,000 employees globally in 2022 and expanded in North America. This year, it recorded its highest ever Q1 revenue of €695.1 million and, in the UK, has opened two new branches including a 'state-of-the-art' branch at London Heathrow Airport's Terminal 2.
