Five new cities are to be added to the Lufthansa Express Rail network of joint train-to-flight services.
As part of the collaboration between Lufthansa and Deutsche Bahn, high-speed Sprinter services will operate between Frankfurt Airport and both Hamburg and Munich from July, and between the airport and Berlin, Bremen and Münster from December.
The companies already co-operate on services to Frankfurt Airport from 17 German cities.
The introduction of new Sprinter trains will also make certain Express Rail services faster. From December, the journey between Munich and Cologne will be shortened to less than four hours while journey times between Frankfurt Airport and both Munich and Nuremberg will also be reduced by half an hour.
The Lufthansa Express Rail programme offers reserved seats on-board trains, connection guarantees and mileage accrual for the train journey and access to the DB lounges for Business as well First Class customers.
